Featuring handcrafted, upcycled, reversible, silk sari Kantha Designer Scarves with cotton threads from the brand, House of Wandering Silk. The label works with unique and sustainable products using vintage, upcycled and handloom textiles. All products and production processes are sustainable for the artisans who create them, sustainable for the communities in which the artisans live and sustainable for the environment.
Each scarf is made with two layers of handpicked sari fabric that are stitched together in the style of Kantha, in which women hand sew rows of tiny running stitch from end to end, providing strength and enabling the recycling of saris. The art of Kantha creates a rich rippling effect across the fabric, adding a unique texture to the product. The Kantha is of the highest quality, stitched by women heralding from the Kantha heartland, West Bengal (India), whose families have worked with Kantha for generations.
Each piece is unique and you will not find the same combination of fabrics and threads twice. So very versatile, each scarf is also reversible, and can be matched with numerous outfits.
Displayed on this page, you will find both square and oblong designer scarves that have been specially curated and are completely handcrafted. Since they are purely handmade, any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process. No two handmade items are exactly alike; hence, every handmade item is also one of a kind.
