Sari bead jhumka necklace - white and red
Featuring a handmade, white and red, one-string necklace from silk-covered sheesham wooden prayer beads with a jhumka tassel from the brand, House of Wandering Silk.
This range of signature sari necklaces are designed in order to utilise the sari fabric left over from the production of the Kantha sari scarves. The most striking colours and patterns are handpicked from vintage silk saris and matched, piece by piece, with coloured cotton thread, and sewn into narrow, double-layered tubes. The artisan then fills the tubes with wooden prayer beads. The rows of beads are then hand sewn and hand finished.
The jhumka is a vintage metal tassel made and used by the nomadic Banjara community of Gujarat. Jhumkas are used to decorate clothing and worn as jewellery by the Banjara women. The jhumka used for this necklace has been handpicked in the markets of Delhi, India.
